Subject: Transportation of
Add-on-Armor (AoA) (INFORMATION)

Personnel
New Information/Guidance/Tools:
- This Information Memo is
intended to alert Transportation personnel on the continued support for the
shipment of Add-on-Armor from a multitude of contractors and provide guidance
on the shipment, marking, transport, and visibility requirements for this
commodity.
- All shipment requests for
transportation of Add-on-Armor, parts, and components require the following
procedures:
- Obtain Air clearance (FACTS)
as prescribed in DTR Part II
- On second page of FACTS ACA
screen, below Green Sheet Request, in "MISC INFO" block, annotate
"Add-On-Armor" and Consignee in-the-clear address. This will provide
automatic export clearance
- Army Air Clearance POC for
AoA is Ms. Darlene Grey DSN: 645-9767 or (256)-955-9767 for Green Sheet
problems
- DCMA Transportation Offices
will assign Transportation Control Numbers (TCNs) and utilize Project Code
AOA (alpha-oscar-alpha). Commodity Code VZ is applicable.
- Access GFM for carrier
assignment and bill of lading (if applicable) issuance
- Request Expedited service
for vehicles fully loaded or Exclusive Use for LTL
- Request an extra driver
(team) (not DDPS) for driving times
beyond those authorized by law
- ANNOTATE BILL OF LADING:
"Carrier MUST call (302) 677-4262 (Dover) upon departure from contractor's
facility and at least 24 hours in advance of arrival" or "Carrier
MUST call (843) 963-3187/8 (Charleston) upon departure from contractor's
facility and at least 24 hours in advance of arrival"
- ANNOTATE BILL OF LADING:
"PROJ AOA APPLIES"
- Instruct contractor to
transmit REPSHIP information to DOV or CHS as soon as the shipment departs
their facility to include the carrier name and trailer number.
- AoA labels will be applied in
the same manner as a 999 label in accordance with MIL-STD-129
- Transmit REPSHIP information
(containing the TCN, pieces, weight, cube, type pack, nomenclature, carrier,
and trailer number) to:

Destination contracts except that the contractor is responsible for
transportation to APOE.
